Sea Turtles

These photos were taken May 28th. While at the beach last evening, I realized that I had not shown them to you.
This is a "crawl" from a Loggerhead Sea Turtle.

The turtle techs come and put cages over the nests to protect them from pigs, etc.
I find it interesting that some nests on the Gulf side will be dug up and moved to the Atlantic side. For years, we've been told that the turtles had an internal GPS, which leads them back each year. So, I'm curious how this will all work.

used the charm method of making pinwheels to create a really cut dog bed!

Donna at QUILTING ON THE MON http://donna-stickovich.blogspot.com/
has created a blog. I'm thrilled about this, as Donna makes the most beautiful quilts and is a hand quilter. You won't believe her incredible works!

Here's a few photos of my quilting progress. It's difficult to tell, but this will give you an idea of what's going on with I SPY.
I can not wait to wash this and see it all pucker up. This flannel is SUPER soft and thick, I'm so glad I used it for the backing.

Good Morning! I have just found your blogspot and I love it! I was born in Milledgeville, Georgia and spent summers on Jekyll Island with my grandparents, so I know exactly where you are! What a beautiful place to live! I love the pictures you share. I live in Wisconsin now, but I try to get the ocean at least once a year. That is where my soul gets fed. I also love to quilt, so I feel so lucky to have found your site! Have a great weekend! Shannon :)

I wonder if their internal GPS is as rude as my Verizon GPS.

That Stella sure gets testy sometimes. ;)

Love Ethan's quilt! Enjoyed checking out the other blogs that you have put up. Loved what the one lady did for her pup to sleep on. That was sharp. :) I think my poor dog is deprived now. :) Thanks for the pics of the island. :)

I haven't used flannel for backing yet - did you pre-wash or use as is?

Well, we can't "watch them". Can't turn on lights, drive at night etc. Might "disturb" the eggs from hatching. But, Cape Canaveral has the largest population of nests EVER and probalby has the most lights, etc. The bird n bunny bunch says you can't do this or that... but I find it interesting that since they are so sensitive, they will dig the eggs up and "relocate" them and disturb their GPS patterns, etc. Such an example of the hypocrisy that we live with on a daily basis here... Let's change the rules in midstream if it benefits us, but don't anyone else dare make a move unless we say it's okay. lol Oh, and give us your house while you are at it. lol Yeah, the 4th one....

Well Good morning, just about ready to leave for church and stopped by to visit, that is very interesting how they come ashore to lay eggs, I love seeing this sort of stuff, hugs my friend and be blessed. Barbara

Have you ever witnessed a birthing or the turtle hatchlings crawling to the ocean? They say it is a wonderful experience.

How fabulous about the turtles!! Will you be able to watch them make their dash for the water when they hatch?
Your quilting is looking fabulous. I love using a flannel backing for a baby quilt.
